Museum Events: Due to the ongoing pandemic, there are no events planned for 2021 at the museum. The Village of Glen Carbon is proud to share this building with you so it can continue serving residents and visitors for many years to come. Parks Service and the Department of the Interior in Washington D.C., the first to achieve such an honor in Glen Carbon. On August 25, 2014, this former schoolhouse was placed on the National Register of Historic Places by the U.S. Now serving as the Glen Carbon Heritage Museum, the building continues to educate and inform citizens and visitors of Glen Carbon’s rich history.īefore housing the museum, the building was a school, WWII scrap metal collection center, Civil Defense Building, Village Administration offices, Police Station, library, doctors’ offices, and more. Residents made sure their children received a good education when they built this former schoolhouse in 1914. Proven in Glen Carbon’s history is its commitment to education. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 9am - 3pm
